ITEM of the WEEK - Even in the End

Friday, November 27, 2009

A departure for the photographer Peter Sutherland, Even in the End is the newest edition from boutique publisher Gottlund Verlag. It's printed BY HAND using photo-engraved copper plating and the binding is neatly hand-sewn.

Using high contrast black & white imagery, and naturalistic subject matter, the book presents a seamless vision that is both the tactile and visual epitome of Sutherland's work. Through the printing treatment, the images almost bleed onto the page giving the reader 'the feeling' of the scenes in a way never previously realized in Sutherland's work.

ALEX DA CORTE, ACTIVITY #91 at Golden Age

Friday, November 27, 2009

Alex Da Corte
Activity #91

Opening: December 12, 2009 - 7-10 pm

Exhibition will run through January 31

Alex Da Corte's
Activity series is an ongoing photography project that the young artist has built up over the last few years alongside his well-known sculpture practice, only very occasionally shown, and never shown like they will be shown at Golden Age.

The Activity series is of young men doing specific things, and the suite at Golden Age is 75 pictures of one young man doing one very specific thing, drinking an entire bottle of soda. The pictures are brimming with very modern information about complicity, trust, sexiness and self-esteem, they are ripe for your reading.

Prints will be available along with an accompanying zine from William Pym.
